Nautilus Filter Diverters
Care and Maintenance
Nautilus Filter Diverters are constructed using durable and recyclable materials, ensuring the Nautilus's function and appearance are retained for decades in most Australian climatic conditions with minimal care, maintenance and environmental impact.Function
Prior to installing a Nautilus, and on future occasions; remove overhanging branches and thoroughly clean gutters to create a clear channel for roof litter to flush into the Nautilus - this practice will also improve the gutters lifespan, prevent mosquitoes breeding and reduce maintenance.
During rainfall, roof litter and rainwater will expel from the filter screen. A heavy downpour can flush more roof litter on to the filter screen, which may expel with an increased amount of rainwater.
If an excessive amount of rainwater is expelled from the filter screen during normal rainfall, remove lodged roof litter (twigs, leaves etc) and inspect the filter screen for sediment binding to the surface. If this occurs, the filter screen will need to be removed for cleaning:
- Lift upward then outward to remove the filter assembly
- Soak in mild detergent solution and clean with a nylon brush and rinse
- Slide the filter assembly back to its original position.
Appearance
The effects of ultra violet light, pollution, dirt, grime and salt deposits can all accumulate on the Nautilus over time.
Cleaning should take place every six months. However, in areas where pollutants are more prevalent, especially in coastal or industrial regions, a cleaning program should be carried out on a more frequent basis (i.e. every three months).
To clean the surface, carefully remove any loose deposits with a wet sponge, then with a soft brush (non abrasive) or cloth, and a mild household detergent solution remove dust, salt and other deposits and rinse off with clean water. Do not use solvents.
